NEW TO HIRE STOCK – ASTERA AX1 WIRELESS PIXEL TUBES

Sterling Event Group has invested in Astera AX1 Wireless Pixel Tubes to further enhance its lighting stock.

The Astera AX1 Pixeltube is an IP65 waterproof, pixel controllable LED RGBW baton that can be mounted or used anywhere. While it is designed primarily for event use, the AX1 can be used for Film & TV as either a substitute for practical light sources, or for special effects.

The lights work with a specially optimised RGB color space: AsteraRGB. This system eliminates the need to control each colour individually. Instead, the light calculates the optimum combination of all colours based on an RGB value. It considers each LED chip’s temperature as well as an optimal colour rendering.

The lights are constructed out of polycarbonate, and feature metal end caps. The AX1 Pixeltube offers several mounting options. For a quick vertical setup an included stand can be screwed via its M5 thread onto the tube. For hanging the tube there are hangers that can be fixed with screws to wooden surfaces or fixed to truss via a 1/4” Manfrotto stud and a Manfrotto clamp.

The ability to utilise these lights in a variety of ways, opens up the possibilities of their use across conferencing and events.

The lights can be controlled via the AsteraApp, an IR remote control or through Wireless DMX (2.4GHz) and can display static colors or replay a number of predefined effect patterns with a customisable colour palette – something that will prove useful when designing a lighting show for events. Lights can be controlled individually but they can also be grouped into sets, and effects can be used over up to 32 lights.

STERLING INVESTS IN SENNHEISER TO FURTHER BOOST ITS AUDIO FLEET

Northwest based technical production supplier, Sterling Event Group, has invested in Sennheiser’s latest Digital 6000 series to further enhance its audio offering.

Having grown the business substantially in recent years, Sterling, who supply services to the live events industry, wanted to further increase and enhance its audio fleet to complement their other recent kit investments.

The investment including EM 6000 digital 2-channel receivers, SKM 6000 handheld transmitters with MD 9235 capsules, SK 6000 beltpacks and L 6000 charging stations will allow Sterling to futureproof its inventory and offer clients a digital solution. As part of the company’s investment, Sterling have also purchased additional Sennheiser 2000 Series IEMs to further increase its current stock.

Sterling’s Head of Audio Ben Marshall commented “With increased restrictions on available spectrum for radio microphones and In Ear Monitors we needed a solution to give us the channels we require even in the most challenging RF environments. By utilising Sennheiser Digital 6000 which is intermodulation free we can place frequencies in an equidistant frequency grid to maximise channel counts without issue. We have also found the 6000 series to be both rider and sub-hire friendly satisfying our live production and dry hire clients.”

“The ability to incorporate the EM 6000 receivers into a redundant Dante network and have parameters such as battery and RF level information displayed on CL and QL mixing consoles is also a huge advantage.”

“Sterling have fully embraced Digital 6000,” comments Mark Haigh, Channel Sales Manager for Sennheiser UK’s Pro Audio Solutions division. “It’s great to see them onboarding staff with training sessions and using the product. It will undoubtedly give them more flexibility in our ever-changing RF landscape, and ultimately help broaden their customer-base”.

A main motivator for the investment is a feature that is particularly important for corporate use and that is the switchable AES 256 encryption. Sterling MD Richard Bowden said “With our involvement in a number of party conferences and other events involving sensitive client information we have had a requirement for an encrypted wireless solution. The 6000 series provides this along with the highest quality audio and integration with our Dante networks.”

STERLING EVENT GROUP INVESTS IN D&B

Northwest-based technical production supplier, Sterling Event Group, has invested a 6-figure sum into its equipment fleet to meet a growing global demand for its services.

The decision to significantly boost its audio department by investing in a d&b audiotechnik V Series line array loudspeaker system, was agreed following a surge in enquiries over the last year.

Having grown the business substantially in recent years, Sterling, who supply services to the live events industry both nationally and internationally, needed a flagship audio system offering for larger events to complement their recent investments in the vision, lighting and rigging departments.

The d&b audiotechnik V Series system features on the riders of many world class acts so it is set to be a favourite with Sterling’s live music clients. It is also proving a popular choice in both the corporate and sporting sectors, with it already being used in its first outing at a large conference at Birmingham’s NEC, closely followed by an international sporting event at the Copper Box Arena, London.

Sterling have stocked loudspeaker systems from d&b audiotechnik for many years, trusting the brand and the quality of its products. Richard Bowden, Sterling MD, was keen to invest further: “It was always my intention to stock the very best equipment available. It was over 10 years ago that we first invested in d&b audiotechnik following lots of research and demonstrations and we haven’t looked back since. Our stock now includes 17 different models which allows us to select the most appropriate solution for our client’s needs.

“The introduction of the V series comes at a very exciting time at Sterling Event Group as we have seen a recent demand from our growing client base for complete production solutions for larger scale events and having equipment like this at our disposal combined with the knowledge and experience of our team, means we can continue to offer our clients a first-class service”.
